If you’ve been keeping up with our Gal Pal Newsletter lately, you’re already in on a big, groovy secret: The Cold Gold Summer 2020 Launch is SO CLOSE. In the newsletter, we’ve been sneak-peekin’ the new collection as we’ve been working on it (some secrets are too good to keep) but now, we thought we’d let you all in on the fun by sharing the inspiration behind the (socially distanced) photoshoot we planned for this collection launch!

Cold Gold Boss Babe (Owner, Designer, Brains of the Operation) Alaina has long been inspired by the glitz and glam of Studio 54 in her own personal aesthetic and is now channeling that inspiration into Cold Gold’s upcoming collection. “Our Summer 2020 collection is inspired by the high fashion, lowbrow, sequin-plated style profile that is Studio 54. The dancing lights down to the dance moves all came to mind when designing jewelry that would shimmy its way into your wardrobe. Disco may have died, but we’re bringing it back to life.”

When we’re planning a photoshoot, we start with a theme, a mood, and a color story. This time, we combined the dreamy + glowy + hazy glam of Studio 54 with a rush of saturated 70s rainbow. After that, we go where everyone else does: Pinterest. For this photoshoot, the models rocked some outrageous, monochromatic party looks and we recreated our own micro-Studio 54, disco ball and all. Think big hair, bigger earrings, and bold color smoldering on the eyes. Our rainbow of saturated, modern-but-mod colors against an iconically 70s golden yellow backdrop sets the stage, then high-drama styling steals the show.

Inspired by distant memories of dizzy dance floors, Saturday night fever dreams, sequins reflecting the neon, and late nights spent dancing past street lights, this collection makes every floor a dance floor, and every wearer an icon. We started with bold, modern, colorful leather, paired it with Matisse-inspired shapes and moves like Jagger, and then got down to business planning a photoshoot to take us back to the days of disco, sans time machine. Sparkly, sheer, barely-there tops, bellbottom jeans, and bold color power suits were some no-brainer outfit requirements for this shoot.

This collection invokes the dance moves of Travolta, Cher’s hair, Grace Jones’ accessorizing game, Mick Jagger’s attitude, we could go on, but you’ll just have to wait and see. Point that pointer finger to the sky, don your glitziest jumpsuit, and get ready to boogie down - here comes the Cold Gold Summer 2020 collection.
